A little background on our Kirkland Nursery Project:
When we first started designing this nursery, one of the requests was to update the look of the walls without using wallpaper. we suggested use of a wall treatment, beadboard, for depth and dimension. The beauty in wall treatments is they create a timeless look and elevate the look and feel of a space. The soon to be parents loved the result and have since extended the use of wall treatments to a few other rooms in their home!
The overall direction was to keep the room traditional in its aesthetic, so we applied a neutral color palette (namely, lots of creams, beige tones, and shades of grey) throughout with hints of bright color for a light and playful feel.
We focused on mixing textures - lots of it, through use of a wool pouf, shag rug, wood wall decor, and felt mobile above the crib. These elements work together to create a cozy and serene ambience in the space. For a light and playful feel, we added baby animals through wall decor, toys and book covers.
