How to Create
a Trader Joe’s
Floral Arrangement
With Thanksgiving this week, I created some floral arrangements using flowers from Trader Joe’s, all for under $20! We’re using it as a centerpiece on the dining table and it took less than 10 minutes to put together.
My local Trader Joe’s puts out fresh flowers every other day, so ask your local store what days they come in and make a trip to the store that day.
Here are a few tips to create your own floral arrangement:
Purchase a few mixed flower bundles and bundles with greenery only. I choose flowers with bright colors and a few neutrals that work with any color palette. Below, the flowers I chose!
2. Select a vase. The smaller the opening of the vase, the more control you’ll have of the arrangement and the fewer flowers you’ll need to arrange. You can also use a rubber band to tie the stems of the flowers together for a fuller look. Place small stones in the water to keep the stems from moving around.
3. Add room-temperature water and flower food. Fill the vase ~1/3 full with room temperature water. The flower food serves as an energy source for the blooms (to help them last longer!)
4. Cut the stems at different heights. This creates a more natural, relaxed look and adds interest.
5. Place the flowers in the vase first. Space them evenly and fill the vase the entire way around. Then, add in greenery where there is white space. I like to mix different types of flowers (peonies, roses, carnations) for an eclectic look.
Here’s the result!
Place these floral arrangements as a centerpiece at your dining table, on a coffee table. Happy Thanksgiving!
