Before & After:
Warren Street Living Room
The reveal of the living room of Warren Street project is HERE! We began the design of this room back in June, and am so excited to share how the vision for this space came to life. Located in the residential neighborhood of Queen Anne in Seattle, the home has beautiful bones: floor to ceiling windows, warm wood floors, clean lines, simple finishes, and lots of natural light! Our goal for the living room was to create a serene, open space with ample seating that blended seamlessly with the rest of the home.
Here is a BEFORE photo taken back in February:
And here is the AFTER!
Because the living room was only ~130 sq. feet with the total home about 800 square feet, we kept the seating arrangement more open to the rest of the home by positioning the single chair in the corner. This created an easy entry point into and out of the space.
Natural elements (particularly, the potted plant and flowers) balance out heavier materials and the darker color of the sofa, while textures were layered in through use of the wood frames, coffee table basket, and leather poufs. I love finding versatility in furniture and the leather poufs are just that! You can move them around the room for additional seating or use as an ottoman to prop your feet up after a long day.
One of the challenges we faced when designing the space was identifying the right pieces to hang on the big, blank wall behind the sofa! The wall is long and wide so needed to find a piece (or set of pieces) that would work in proportion to the length of the sofa beneath. We landed on these 25”x 25” wood frames from Pottery Barn, shown below. The beauty in these frames is that you can adjust their collective size to fill the area of the wall appropriately.
We opted for 2 rows of 3 frames each to fill both the wall both in length and height, and love how the wood on the frames ties in with the wood coffee table in the center of the room. You can also swap out the images displayed in the frames over time! Black and white prints in frames are always a classic, neutral choice that work well with the color palette of any room.
